We are about to embark on a journey.  One that takes us a long way from the comforts of home, friends and family.  I cannot imagine how our lives will look in 6 months let alone a year from now.  I just know it is time to discover more of what the world has to offer.....

14 Apr 2010    Easter in America So Easter along with Birthdays, Christmas, Valentine’s and Halloween is another candy filled festive occasion. Every week one or more of the kids bring home a candy filled bag from school which leads to drama in the car.  He or she who holds the bag holds the power and they never waste and opportunity to lord it over their siblings. One bag of candy can turn a 10 minute drive home into a nightmare...............   26 Mar 2010    Guatemala Travel Diary We are a mass of bruises, bites, stings, scraps, bumps, cuts, scratches and welts. Between the sandflies, mozzies, cobblestones and tiled floors Guatemala has left its mark on all of us. Whilst we swat and scratch and nurse the bruises I am thinking about the nasty diseases that this delightful country is inflicted with. I wonder why I continue to do this to myself and now encourage my family to do the same. It is always at the end of an adventure that I begin to wonder why I ever thought to travel to these bloody countries. But give it 3 months when the swellings go down and the itching stops the travel lust will start to creep in again. “I wonder what Columbia is like?......”   21 Oct 2009    Christpher Columbus So we travel on keeping our goal firming in our mind.  The best captains understand that they need to be strong in their convictions, disciplined in their actions, run a good ship and have a good sense of direction. Good captains understand that the seas are ever changing; bad weather will be followed by good weather, open seas do not go on forever and that eventually they will sight land and it will be nothing like they ever imagined.   4 Oct 2009    The Fear Monster My growing fear had manifested itself in fuzzy headedness, frustration, tiredness, anger and disappointment. Put me in a capsule with Keith who is also battling fear and hey presto we have 2 fear monsters in the car and no room for escape.   1 Jul 2009    The Here and Now  I have made detours,  taken shortcuts, overcorrected, gone too fast, stood still, gone backwards, missed sign posts, shot red lights, wandered up one-way streets, gone off-road and bounced around in the wilderness.  Some days I haven’t a clue where I am or why I was even bothering to get up because I’m going nowhere fast. Other days I do get to my destination only to find it’s a dump!   14 Apr 2009    Going to America Big, BIg, BIG move. There is a mixture of excitement and terror running through me. This is a dream a long time in the making. For years now I have been dreaming the same dream; travelling around the world with friends, exploring and investing in real estate.
